Lacrosse Picks up First Win in 12-8 Defeat of Lafayette

Owls now at 1-1; face #3 Penn in home opener Wednesday

LAFAYETTE, Pa. – Freshman Stephany Parcell scored three goals as the Temple lacrosse team picked up its first win, 12-8 at Lafayette (0-2). The Owls are now 1-1, and will play their home opener on Wednesday against #3 Penn.

Seven players scored for Temple, and three other than Parcell also had multiple goals. Freshman Kellee Pace, sophomore Karly Cohen and senior Chelsea Rosiek all tallied two goals apiece. Rosiek was involved in half the team's goals, as she also recorded four assists.

Sophomore Melissa Schweitzer got Temple on the board first with an unassisted goal early in the game.

Lafayette kept it close in the first half, and trailed only 6-5 at halftime. The Leopards then quickly tied the score in the second half, just 18 seconds in. Rosiek answered quickly with her second goal of the day, and Temple went on to score five more goals while Lafayette managed only two.

Senior goalkeeper Jessica Colucci made nine saves in the win.

Temple will play its next two games at home. First up is a tough test in the home opener, as the Owls will face #3 Penn. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 3 at Geasey Field.
