Short-handed Owls fall to Atlantic 10 foe on the road

RICHMOND, Va. - The Temple women's tennis team drooped a tough match to conference foe Richmond, 5-2, Friday afternoon in Richmond, Va.

The Spiders swept the doubles point, with No. 1 Erin Clark/Helen Cunningham defeating Anastasiia Rukavyshnykova and Katharina Mittag, 8-2. Kelly Tidwell and Isabel Arana got past Theresa Stangl and May Johnson, 8-2, at number two to earn the doubles point.

Rukavyshnykova and Johnson were TU's lone point winners on the day, picking up victories at the second and fourth singles flights, respectively. The Owls were at an early disadvantage, missing a number six singles player and therefore being unable to field a number three doubles team.

Temple, 4-8, will play Old Dominion at 11 a.m. tomorrow morning.
