Junior men's tennis player earns first career player of the week award
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Junior Stanislav Stekolshikov has picked up Atlantic 10 Player of the Week honors for the Temple men's tennis team for the week ending March 21, 2010. The Owls played three matches during the week, going 2-1.
Stekolshikov earns his first career A-10 award after a 3-0 week in singles play. He started the week off with a challenging come-from-behind 2-6, 6-2, 10-6 win over an opponent from conference rival George Washington.
Stekolshikov continued his solid play in a doubleheader on Sunday, defeating his competitors from Fordham and St. Francis (N.Y.) without dropping a set.
For the season, Stekolshikov is 4-5 in singles play, thanks to his current four-match win streak.
The Cherry and White are 5-7 on the season and will travel to Lehigh for a match with the Mountain Hawks on Friday, March 26.
