Women’s Gymnastics Repeats With Third Place Finish In ECAC Championships

PHILADELPHIA – Playing host to the 2010 ECAC Championships, the Temple women's gymnastics team repeated as school-best third place finishers. Competing inside the friendly confines of McGonigle Hall, the Owls scored a team total of 190.675. Defending champion Towson retained their crown, followed by William & Mary.
Towson scored a team total of 192.725, with William & Mary tallying 190.800. The Owls 190.675 was followed by Cornell's 190.300, Penn's 190.225, and Yale's score of 189.500.
Sophomore Corrine Williams took top honors on floor, leading all competitors with a score of 9.850. Junior Katie Canning earned a sixth place finish with a score of 9.725.
Canning and senior Nina Oteri finished tied for second on balance beam, boasting scores of 9.750. Canning also led Temple on vault, placing seventh with a score of 9.775.
On bars, junior Chelsea Troutman led the Owls placing eighth with a score of 9.675.
All-around, freshman Jean Alban placed 15th with a score of 36.950 to lead the Owls. Alban was named ECAC Women's Gymnastics Rookie of the Year at the conference's awards banquet on Friday evening.
