Seven Individuals And Two Relays Hit ECAC Marks As Women’s Track and Field Competes At Lou Onesty Invitational

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.
– Seven individuals and two relay teams met ECAC qualifying marks as the Temple women's track & field team competed at the Lou Onesty Invitational, hosted by the University of Virginia.

Junior Paris Williams led the Owls with the lone first place finish on the day, meeting ECAC marks in the 400m with a time of 55.45. Senior Brittney McRae placed third in the 100m hurdles, meeting marks with a time of 14.32.

In the 400m hurdles, junior Assata Cowart met ECAC marks with a time of 1:01.63, placing fourth. On her heels was freshman Jade Wilson, meeting ECAC marks in fifth place with a time of 1:01.91.

Two 4x400m relay teams broke ECAC marks. Temple A, comprised of Christiana Taylor, Tessa West, Paris Williams and Tashima Stephens, met ECAC marks with a time of 3:47.09 in second. Coming in third was Temple B – Shadaya Bennett, Sheina Roberts, Assata Cowart and Jade Wilson – running a time of 3:51.73.

In the field, senior Melissa (Gale) Hand placed second in the pole vault, clearing 3.70m to break her own school record and nab ECAC marks. McRae posted a third place finish in the long jump, landing an ECAC qualifying distance of 5.63m for third place. Sophomore Alanna Owens owned the shot put for Temple, finishing third with an ECAC qualifying mark of 13.68m. Classmate Ebony Moore placed second in the discus, meeting ECAC marks with a toss of 46.29m

Up next for the Owls is the Greyhound Invitational, hosted by Moravian College on April 16.
