Women’s Gymnastics Places Third In Session II Of USAG Championships

– The Temple women's gymnastics team posted a team total of 191.375 to place third in the team semifinals session II at the 2010 USA Gymnastics National Championships hosted by Texas Women's University. Senior Nina Oteri and sophomore Corrine Williams tied for first on floor, while sophomore Kaity Watson took top honors on vault.

The top two teams from each session move on to the finals, those being host Texas Women's (193.500) and Cornell (191.675). The Owls placed third, followed by William & Mary 190.800.

Oteri and Williams posted scores of 9.800 on floor. Junior Marissa Oxenford placed eighth in the event with a total of 9.725, while classmate Katie Canning finished tenth with a score of 9.700.

Watson led all competitors with a score of 9.775 on vault. Canning also fared well on the apparatus, placing fifth with a score of 9.700.

Junior Chelsea Troutman led Temple on parallel bars, posting a score of 9.700 to place fourth. Classmate Kathryn Ho and freshman Jean Alban tied for 12th, owning scores of 9.475.

Williams also spearheaded the Owls' efforts on balance beam, placing second with a score of 9.750. Canning followed closely in fourth with a score of 9.700, while Troutman made the top 10 scoring 9.650.

All-around, Williams was Temple's lone competitor, scoring 37.850 for seventh place in this session, ninth overall.
