Women's Tennis Closes Regular Season With 6-1 Victory Over Fordham

Five Owls players win singles matches in straight-sets
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Temple women's tennis team wrapped up the regular-season with a 6-1 victory against visiting Fordham on Saturday, April 17. The Owls finish the year with a record of 9-11 overall and 4-2 against Atlantic 10 teams.
Fordham got the early upper hand when an injury forced Josephine Bergman and Katharina Mittag to retire at first doubles while leading 4-0. The Cherry & White rolled from there, however, as Anastasiia Rukavyshnykova and Lucie Pazderova won 8-4 at number two and Theresa Stangl and May Johnson took an 8-2 win at the third flight.
In singles play, the Owls got straight-set victories in the first five flights. Bergman was especially impressive at number two, failing to drop a game in the 6-0, 6-0 win. Fordham's point came at number six, where Mittag was forced to default the match due to injury.
The Owls will now spend the week preparing for the Atlantic 10 Championship, being held April 22-24 in Saint Louis, Mo.
