Women’s 4x800m sets meet record, Taylor first in long jump

Day One Results

AMHERST, Mass.
– The Temple women's 4x800m relay team set a meet record on the first day of the Atlantic 10 Championships, leading the women to a fourth place finish after one day of competition. Senior Christian Taylor also took a first place finish, winning the long jump with a leap of 19-04.75.

The 4x800m ran a time of 8:48.36, besting the previous meet record set in 2009 by over five seconds.

Senior Melissa (Gale) Hand placed second in the pole vault clearing 12-01.50.

The Owls currently have 37.50 team points, sitting behind Dayton (1st, 50), Richmond (47.75), and Rhode Island (43). Day two action begins with the men's heptathlon at 8:45 a.m.
