PRINCETON, N.J. – Junior Assata Cowart and the women's 4x400m relay team each qualified for the finals in their respective events during the second day of action at the 2010 ECAC Championships held at Princeton University. Cowart posted a time of 59.85 in the 400m hurdles, while the women's 4x4 ran a time of 3:42.22.
Junior Assata Cowart ran a time of 59.85 in the 400m hurdles, clocking in the sixth-best time to notch a spot in the finals. Also in the event, freshman Jade Wilson ran a personal-best 1:00.07
The women's 4x400m squad – Christiana Taylor, Paris Williams, Shadaya Bennett and Tashima Stephens – put together a finals qualifying time of 3:42.22 (6th).
The women's 4x800m relay – Tonney Smith, Rebecca Mims, Sheina Roberts and Tessa West – place 18th in the preliminary race running a time of 9:10.39.
Junior Paris Williams narrowly missed qualifying for the 400m dash finals, running a preliminary time of 55.92.
Freshman Victoria Gocht ran a time of 2:24.00 in the 800m run prelims, unable to qualify for the finals.
Taylor placed sixth in the long jump for Temple, landing a distance of 19-03.50.
On Friday evening, sophomore Ebony Moore went 130-01 in the discus to place 17th.
Cowart will compete at 1:50 p.m. on Sunday, while the women's 4x400m finals will be held as the second to last event of the day at 3:00 p.m.
