Women's Crew Boats Miss Out on Dad Vail Finals in Close Races

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple women's crew team missed out on the Grand Final at the Dad Vail Regatta in both the Varsity and Junior Varsity 8s by under two seconds in each race Saturday at the the 72nd Annual Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta in a day marred by heavy winds on the Schuylkill River.
"We fought hard, but could not get through to the final," Temple coach Tim Hagan said. "I was pleased with our efforts today and throughout the season. It was a good year for Temple women's crew."
The Owls' Varsity 8, comprised of Isabella Bourbon (cox), Mary Webster (stroke), Allison Boc (7-seat), Taylor Wasserleben (6-seat), Bailey Chick (5-seat), Jeanine Lees (4-seat), Joanna Sutor (3-seat), Nicole Wagner (2-seat) and Brynn Moore (bow), finished third in its semifinal heat by 1.9 seconds to California-Sacramento. Grand Valley State won the semifinal with Loyola, UConn and Colgate rounding out the race.
The Owls V8 then competed in the Second Final, placing fourth behind Loyola, Delaware and Fordham while besting San Diego State and Vermont.
Temple's Junior Varsity 8, comprised of Erin Buchanan (cox), Dana Meadows (stroke), Kara Jackson (7-seat), Megan Welsh (6-seat), Kendra Dickerson (5-seat), Claudia Loeber (4-seat), Brittany Adell (3-seat), Sarah Jennings (2-seat) and Paige O' Sullivan (bow), were 1.7 seconds from qualifying, finishing fourth behind rival Saint Joseph's for the third and final spot. California-Sacramento won the semifinal heat with Delaware placing second. Purdue followed Temple in fifth place with UConn rounding out the field.
