JT Noone Signs Contract with Philadelphia Union

Owl standout makes MLS debut Saturday at PPL Park
PHILADELPHIA (07/30/10) – JT Noone, the all-time assist leader in Temple men's soccer history, signed a contract with Major League Soccer's Philadelphia Union today. The former Owl midfielder had been playing for the Harrisburg City Islanders while also training with the Union. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
A Harrisburg native, Noone saw playing time in the second half of the Union's first-ever international friendly against Celtic FC on July 14.
At Temple, Noone set the career record for assists (26) during 2009, his senior season. He led the Owls in assists (7) for the third consecutive year. For his career the Owl playmaker amassed 50 points (12 g, 26 a).
A two-time ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America, Noone's best season came in 2008 when he earned NSCAA/adidas Second Team All-America honors to become the first Temple men's soccer All-America in 22 years. He scored seven goals and dished a TU single season record 12 assists that season.
As a senior contributed three goals to go along with his seven assists to earn NSCAA/adidas Mid-Atlantic All-Region first team for the second consecutive year. He also earned first team All-Atlantic 10 honors for the second straight year.
A two-time Soccer Six All-Star selection, including 2008 league Player of the Year honors, Noone was one of 62 Division I seniors that competed at the 2010 adidas MLS Player Combine.
The Union (4-8-2) host the New England Revolution (4-9-2) this Saturday (3:30 p.m.) at PPL Park.
