Owls Open Season on Sept. 3 with Villanova
PHILADELPHIA – The Temple University football team concluded training camp on Tuesday at Edberg-Olson Hall.

Owl Outlook is back for Day 16 of training camp, with today's focus being on the special teams, namely the returners. Joining us for interviews today are cornerback James Nixon (New Haven, Conn.) and wide receiver Delano Green (Fredericksburg, Va.).
Nixon (6-1, 190 lbs.), the team's 2009 Special Teams MVP, has made the move from wide receiver (where he caught 12 passes for 327 yards and a pair of touchdowns) to defensive back. Nixon was one of the most highly recruited players out of the New England area in High School out of New Haven, Conn., and has the skill set to be very successful as a shutdown corner. As a returner, he has been extremely productive in his first two seasons. In 2009, he recorded 17 kickoff returns for 497 yards and a school record two touchdowns.
Green (5-10) has proven to be one of the most dynamic players on the team, particularly as a returner, where he was named third-team All-MAC by Phil Steele in 2009. Last season, Green recorded 20 punt returns for 233 yards and a school-record two touchdowns.
The Temple special teams, which previously had been led by head coach Al Golden, will now be under the tutelage of coach Sean Desai, who is in his fifth season with the program and first season as the special teams coordinator.
In 2009, he served as the graduate assistant for the defense, working with All-MAC safeties Dominique Harris and Jaiquawn Jarrett. For his first three seasons, Desai worked as the graduate extern for academics. Last season, the Temple defense helped win a single-season record nine consecutive games en route to a 9-4 overall record and first-place tie in the MAC East. A school record eight defensive players were named All-MAC, including five on the first team. Sophomore Adrian Robinson earned 2009 MAC Defensive Player of the Year accolades, and senior Andre Neblett became Temple's first three-time All-MAC honoree.
Temple opens the 2010 season on Friday, Sept. 3 with Villanova at 5 p.m. in the second annual Mayor's Cup at Lincoln Financial Field.
