8.27.10 | General

Highlighting a successful year in the classroom, in competition and in the community, the Temple University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics released its 2009-10 annual report and honor roll of donors Friday.

Designed and compiled by the offices of Athletics Communication and Athletics Development, the 2009-10 Annual Report summarizes the Owls' collective accomplishments and recognizes the more than 2,000 donors that contribute to the department's success. The annual report is available to view online by clicking here while hard copies will be mailed to athletics donors at the $1,000 level and higher.

"While we are in a new year and remain focused on the goals and challenges ahead, we take this additional opportunity to celebrate the positive momentum felt in 2009-10," said Director of Athletics Bill Bradshaw. "Last year was significant in many ways, most notably because we worked together to advance our pursuit of Comprehensive Excellence - academically, athletically and socially. We look forward to continue climbing in 2010-11."

Among last year's highlights:
* A record 15 Temple teams achieved at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average
* The Owls performed over 5,000 hours' community service in Philadelphia
* Temple became one of just four Division I schools, joining Texas, Tennessee and Texas A&M, to have both its men's and women's basketball programs participate in each of the last three NCAA Tournaments AND advance its football team to a bowl game
* Record revenue generation was achieved in both development (Owl Club) and corporate sponsorships

"As we're fond of saying, there has never been a better time to be a Temple Owl," said Bradshaw. "We hope this report provides our constituents the continued excitement and confidence in our program and an increased desire to participate in it."
