Senior Andrew Mason leads the way for the Owls
Newport, R.I. - In the final round of the Adams Cup of Newport on Tuesday, September 21st, the Temple men's golf team finished 14th place overall among 17 teams. The teams started play at Newport National G.C. on Monday, September 20th with 36 holes, and finished Tuesday with the final 18 holes.
The Cherry and White shot a 305 for the final round, giving them a three-round total of 925.
Senior Andrew Mason led the way for the Owls, tying for 21st place overall. He shot a 75 in his final round, giving him a three-round total of 225 (+9).
Finishing next for Temple was freshman Connor McNicholas. McNicholas was consistent in his tournament play, shooting a 78 each round. He finished with a three-round total of 234 (+18), tying him for 52nd place. Freshman Russell Hartung was close behind, shooting a 77 in his final round, for a 235 (81-77-77) and a 55th place finish.
Tying for 66th place were sophomore Devin Bibeau and freshman Steve Burak. Bibeau shot a 78 for the third round, giving him a 237 (+21) overall. Burak shot his best score of the tournament Tuesday afternoon with a 75 in the final round. He also finished with a 237 (83-79-75) over the two day tournament.
The University of Central Florida finished in first place overall with a combined three-round total of 868.
The Temple men's golf team will compete at the Hartford Hawk Invitational next at Bull's Bridge G.C. in South Kent, CT
