Andrew Mason again leads way for Owls

SOUTH KENT, CT - Senior Andrew Mason again led the way for the Temple golf team, tying for 13th at the Hartford Hawk Invitational, and helping the Owls to a ninth place finish among 15 teams. The Invitational, which was cut from three rounds to two due to inclement weather, was held on September 27-28 at the Bulls Bridge Golf Course.

Mason carded a five over-par 149 (74-75) in the event. He was followed by freshman Russell Hartung (79-77), who tied for 34th with a 156. Fellow freshmen Steve Burak (77-80 =157) and Connor McNicholas (79-81=160) tied for 41st and 51st, respectively. Senior Mark Edmondson rounded out the Owls' five with a 168 (83-85) to place 72nd.

St. John's won the Invitational with a 585 total, four strokes better than runner-up Dartmouth. Hartford's D.J. Lantz was the overall medalist with a two under-par 142 (71-71).

The Temple men's golf team will next compete at the Big 5 Invitational at the Plymouth County Club, October 8-10.
