Five Owls meet ECAC qualifying marks

NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Temple women's track and field team placed 12th overall at the Albany Great Dane Classic, held at the 168th St. Armory in New York City. The Owls had several athletes meet ECAC qualifying marks, including a pair from junior Alanna Owens.
Owens placed fourth in the shot put, meeting ECAC qualifying marks with a toss of 44-04.00. Owens also placed fifth in the weight throw, going 52-06.75 for ECAC marks.
Freshman Ambrosia Iwugo picked up points for the Owls in the 200m dash, placing eighth in a time of 25.31.
Seniors Assata Cowart and Paris Williams placed second and fourth in the 500m with respective ECAC qualifying times of 1:14.51 and 1:15.26.
Sophomore Tonney Smith and Freshman Stephanie Dorantes placed sixth and eighth respectively in the 1000m, running a times of 3:03.64 and 3:06.54.
Temple competes next at the Penn State National, held January 28-29 in State College, Pa.
