Owls' season highlighted by a trip to Mizzou
PHILADELPHIA - Opening their 2011 slate as they did last year with a trip to George Washington, the Temple women's gymnastics team has plenty of competition to look forward to. Warming up with the annual intrasquad exhibitions, the Owls have three road meets before they host their lone home competition of the season, the Ken Anderson Invitational.
Temple stays fairly local for the month of January, traveling to compete against the Colonials on January 16, then taking on Ursinus on Jan. 23 and Southern Connecticut State on Jan. 29.
The Owls then host the Ken Anderson Invitational on February 5, welcoming a host of ECAC foes in Ursinus, Towson, William & Mary and West Chester to McGonigle Hall. It will also be Senior Day, as the Owls honor their graduation class prior to the 1:00 p.m. start.
A trip to Yale on Feb. 12 breaks up another chance to take down ECAC Champion Towson, as the Owls travel to face the Tigers on Feb. 20. Another trip south the following weekend pits the Cherry and White against Maryland on Feb. 27.
One meet the team is particularly excited for has the Owls traveling to Columbia, Mo., to face the University of Missouri on March 4. Temple returns home for its final regular season meet on March 13, jumping across town to take on Penn.
This year's ECAC Championships will be held in Providence, R.I., at Brown University on March 19. The Owls are hopeful they can capture their first conference championship, after repeating in third place last season. The NCAA Regionals are slated for April 2, with the venue still to be determined. On April 7-9, the United States Air Force Academy will be hosting the USAG Nationals.
