Junior guard averaged 15.5 points, 7 assists and 6.5 steals in two lopsided wins for Temple

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Temple's Shey Peddy was named the Atlantic 10 Conference and Philadelphia Big 5 Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the league offices announced on Monday. Peddy paced the Owls to an unbeaten 2-0 week, including a 76-48 win at Massachusetts on Jan. 26 and an 84-56 rout of Richmond on Jan. 29.

The Roxbury, Mass., native filled the stat sheet, averaging 15.5 points, 7.0 assists, 6.5 steals and 5.0 rebounds in both games, while shooting 52 percent (12-23) from the field and 100 percent (5-5) at the line.

Against the Minutewomen, Peddy posted a near double-double of 19 points and a career-high eight steals, also dishing out five assists. She shot 5-of-9 from the field against the Spiders, finishing with 12 points and was once again close to a double-double with a season-high nine assists.

The A-10 honor is the first for Peddy this season and also the first for Temple, as the Owls have been very well-balanced on offense. Temple is currently 15-6 overall and 6-0 in the A-10, riding an eight-game win streak.

Peddy has now been named the Big 5 Player of the Week three times this season, and Temple has earned the honor six times overall.

Temple will face Saint Louis at noon on Wednesday, Feb. 2 in the Liacouras Center for the ninth annual "School Day" game.
