Temple Falls In Narrow 1-0 Decision at Fordham

BRONX, N.Y. - Temple Women's Soccer rounded out the opening weekend of Atlantic 10 Conference play with a 1-0 loss to the Fordham Rams (6-4-1, 1-0-1) at Jack Coffey Field on Sunday afternoon.
Fordham's Jessica Widman fed Kristina Maksuti for a shot that hit the right post before going in the net, to beat redshirt junior goalkeeper Tara Murphy in the 57th minute for the game's only goal.
In the first half, the Owls had difficulty with getting things together offensively, as Fordham's defensive unit held Temple shotless in the opening 45 minutes.
Coming out of a scoreless first half, junior Casey Greco tested Fordham goalkeeper Rachel Suther with a shot she blasted on net, only to be stopped by the junior netminder.
Down a goal with minutes remaining, senior Niki Conn had Temple's last chance at tying the match in the 84th minute when she sent a shot in on goal, but again Suther answered with a rejection.
With the loss, the Owls fall to 3-8-0 overall and are now 0-2-0 in the early portion of their A-10 slate. Temple returns to the Ambler Sports Complex on Friday aftternoon when it picks up conference play action with a date with the Richmond Spiders at 4:00 p.m.
