AMBLER, Pa.—After opening Atlantic 10 Conference play on the road last weekend, the Owls return to the Ambler Sports Complex where they will host their first pair of league matches of the season when they face the Richmond Spiders Friday at 4:00 p.m. and the George Washington Colonials on Sunday at 1:00 p.m..
Temple (3-8-0, 0-2-0) will be looking to bounce back from shutout losses to La Salle and Fordham last weekend, while the Spiders split match decisions by defeating Duquesne before losing to St. Bonaventure. When the Owls face GW, the Colonials will be coming to Ambler to complete a weekend stay in the Philadelphia area after taking on Saint Joseph's on Friday.
The Spiders roll into Ambler winners in six of their last seven games. More recently, Richmond fell to St. Bonaventure 2-0 to drop to an even 1-1 in A-10 play so far this season.
Richmond (7-4-2, 1-1-0)opened the season 0-2-2, but has since bounced back, allowing them to stand 7-4-2. In non-conference play, the Spiders saw a fair amount of talented competition, as they faced No. 10 Virginia and No. 21 William & Mary.
Sophomore Becca Wann leads all Atlantic 10 scorers with 11 goals and 26 points. Wann also holds conference-bests in shots, shots per game and points per game.
The Colonials (4-7-1, 1-0-1) will play their final road game of the regular season today when they wrap up their current five-game road swing. GW has spent the entire weekend in the Philadelphia area, as it took on the Saint Joseph's Hawks on Friday.
Before the weekend began, the Colonials were undefeated and unscored upon in A-10 play thus far. In their first two league matches, GW played St. Bonaventure to a scoreless tie before shutting out Duquesne last Sunday.
Adriana Moya and Sierra Smidinger are leading the way with nine points a piece, while Lindsey Rowe has anchored the defense with her 82 saves in goal.
