Box Score
AMBLER, Pa. – Looking as if extra time would be needed to solve a 2-2 deadlock, which lasted for 53 minutes, Richmond sophomore and Atlantic 10 leading scorer Becca Wann stunned the Owls with a heartbreaking goal in the 88th minute to give Richmond its first lead of the contest and the inevitable 3-2 edge. In Friday's Atlantic 10 match with the Spiders at the
Ambler Sports Complex, the Owls held a lead at two different points of the game, but both times, the Spiders found ways to capitalize on Temple's mishaps in the defensive zone to allow them to even things up.
Senior Niki Conn scored her team-leading third goal of the season in the 11th minute to get the Owls out to an early lead. Richmond rallied back three minutes later when A-10 leading scorer Becca Wann knotted the game at one apiece. Sophomore Karly O'Toole returned the advantage back to the Owls in the 25th minute on a successful penalty kick attempt. Before the Owls could get out of the half with a lead, Richmond's Natalie LeClair completed a three-point day when she tied the game at two in the 35th minute.
Richmond's defense was impermeable in the second half, as it held the Owls shotless for the final 45 minutes, helping it to outshoot Temple 20-5 for the game.
Temple will play the back-end to the current weekend homestand on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. when the George Washington Colonials move into Ambler for another A-10 Conference match.
