Live Stats

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -
At long last, Temple Men's Soccer (6-6-0, 2-1-0) returns to the Ambler Sports Complex where it will host its first match since Sept. 3 when it faced Lafayette in the season-opener. The Owls will play host to the Xavier Musketeers (8-2-2, 2-1-1), who are receiving votes in the latest NSCAA poll, on Friday at 2:30 p.m. before welcoming the Dayton Flyers (3-11-0, 2-2-0) on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. Live Stats will be provided for both matches.

Temple is coming into the weekend slate as winners of three of its last four games. In their last time out, the Owls defeated Saint Joseph's, 2-0. Senior Tyler Witmer and sophomore Vaughn Spurrier provided the offense, having three points each to front rookie goalkeeper Bobby Rosato's shutout effort.

Spurrier's game-winning goal and assist on Witmer's late insurance goal against the Hawks, earned him this week's Philadelphia Soccer Six Player of the Week honors.

Witmer is currently Temple's leading scorer with 11 points (four goals, two assists) and has been essential in Temple's latest four-game stretch, where it won three of those matches. Witmer has seven points in the last four games, including three goals. In that same four-game span, the Owls were 3-0-0 when Witmer scored a goal. Dating back to last season, Temple is a perfect 8-0-0 when Witmer gets on the board with a tally.

The Musketeers are the defending Atlantic 10 Conference champions after they defeated La Salle in last season's championship game. Xavier is looking like a contender for the title again this season, as it is currently sitting in third place of the conference. Coming into this weekend, the Musketeers have gone undefeated in their last three A-10 games. Luke Spencer and Gino Depaoli have provided the bulk of Xavier's offense, as the two are ranked within the top eight in the A-10 in scoring. Friday begins a stretch of five straight road games for the Musketeers, which will culminate with the end of the regular season.

Xavier leads the all-time series 9-3-2. The Musketeers took last season's meeting by getting by the Owls in a narrow 1-0 decision. Temple's last win over Xavier was back in 2008, when it pounded the Musketeers with four goals in a 4-1 final.

Despite having just three wins before Friday, Dayton is looking as if it is about to turn the corner on the start to its season. The Flyers racked up back-to-back wins in games against Richmond and George Washington last weekend and arecoming into this weekend looking to move past the .500 mark in conference play.

The Flyers have gotten offensive production from many of their players this season, as four players have scored at least four goals. Goalkeeper Alec Storm was ranked in the top 10 of three categories in the A-10.

Dayton leads the all-time series with Temple 9-6-3. Today will be the first meeting between the two schools since 2009. The Flyers have won the last two head-to-head battles. Temple is looking to knock of Dayton for the first time since 2005.
