NORRISTOWN, PA - Junior Devin Bibeau and sophomore Steve Burak each carded two over-par 72s to tie ninth overall in leading Temple to a fourth place among 22 teams after the first round of the Philadelphia Big 5 Invitational Saturday at Plymouth Country Club.
Sophomore Matthew Crescanzo was two strokes behind his teammates and tied for 25th with a 74 while freshman Paul Carbone shot a 76, good for a 48th place tie. Sophomore Russell Hartung rounded out the Temple five with an 83.
Dartmouth led the field with a score of 286. They were followed by Penn (290), Campbell (292),Temple (294), St. John's(297), Navy (297), Villanova (298), Harvard (298), Furman (299), Binghamton (299), Princeton (300), Yale (300), Cornell (300), Francis Marion (302), George Mason (304), Seton Hall (304), Towson (310), Fordham (310), La Salle (314), Drexel (315), Saint Joseph's (317), Brown (326).
Penn's Ben Cooley tops the 114-player field with a three under-par 67. He is two strokes ahead of Seton Hall's Brandon Park and Dartmouth's Peter Jacobson (69).
The final round of the Big 5 Invitational tees off Sunday morning.
