Singles Play Begins for Men's Tennis at Hofstra Fall Invitational

Kacper Rams, Gishkaev and Tang represent Temple

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The three men's tennis team members representing Temple at the Hofstra Fall Invitational continued play with singles action on Saturday, October 8. The event is being held at the Hofstra Tennis Center on Friday-Sunday, October 7-9, 2011.

Kacper Rams, seeded second in singles play, opened the day with a straight-set, 6-0, 6-0, win over Jon Disley of Hofstra. The junior came up against a tough opponent in Concordia's Benas Majaukus in the next round, however, falling 6-4, 1-6, 10-6.

Mansur Gishkaev dropped his first match to Hofstra's Tomasz Olfans, 6-3, 6-3. In the next round, the senior took the Pride's Antonio Pena to three sets, but ultimately fell 4-6, 6-4, 10-4.

Sophomore Li Tang also dropped his opening match, falling 6-0, 6-3, to David Tisserand of Concordia. He rebounded, however, with a consolation round win over Hofstra's Chris Damion, 6-4, 1-6, 13-11. Tang will face Holger Norregard of NJIT on Sunday.
