PHILADELPHIA - After six straight games on the road, the Temple women's basketball team now comes back to Philadelphia for a five-game homestand this month, starting with 1:00 p.m. game against Auburn on Saturday, Dec. 3 in the Liacouras Center. Fans can get in a full afternon of basketball as the men's team plays Central Michigan at 4:00 p.m.

The Owls have suffered a rough stretch with five straight losses, including four close games. Temple has faced three teams ranked in the Top 25 and will face another later this month when Duke visits on Dec. 30. Click HERE for live stats of Saturday's game against Auburn, and HERE for the webcast.

THE OPENING TIP
•Temple is coming off five straight losses, all on the road, and the Owls lost the first four by an average of only seven points...Temple was within two points in the final minute of three of those losses (#24/25 Ohio St., Northern Illinois and St. John's).

•Last year's team started with similar struggles, going 2-4 before winning five straight and going on to have a 24-9 season.

•At #24 Ohio State, Temple rallied from a 16-point deficit to pull within two in the final minute, and against #5 Texas A&M the Owls whittled a 20-point deficit down to four in an eight-minute span.

Kristen McCarthy recorded back-to-back double-doubles with 11 points and a career-high 12 rebounds at Northern Illinois followed by 16 points and 11 rebounds vs. #5 Texas A&M.

Shey Peddy has led the team in scoring four times so far, including in both of Temple's wins, and is shooting a team-best 34.3 percent from behind the arc.

•The Owls started the season 2-0 with impressive defensive performances vs. Miami (OH) (70-36) and at Northeastern (72-58)...The Owls out-rebounded Miami 49-32, forcing 26 turnovers while committing just 13 and holding the RedHawks to 27.9 percent shooting from the field (12-of-43)...Temple committed just 11 turnovers at Northeastern and forced 27.

•Both McCarthy and Peddy eclipsed the 1,000-point mark last year, with McCarthy now at 1,289 for her career (seventh all-time at Temple) and Peddy at 1,415 in her career (including two years at DI Wright State).

•Auburn comes in at 5-1 and with a three-game win streak...The Tigers' only loss so far was to #8/8 Duke, 73-50...Even with the loss they are averaging 19 more points per game than their opponents and eight more rebounds per game...Freshman Hasina Muhammad leads the team with 11.3 ppg, followed by sophomore Tyrese Tanner at 10.8 ppg and two other players at 9.7 ppg.

SERIES RECORD
This is the sixth meeting all-time between Temple and Auburn, and the fourth consecutive season the teams will meet. The Tigers are 3-2 vs. the Owls all-time, but Temple has won the last two games. The Owls escaped Auburn with a 62-61 win a year ago, and Temple earned a 66-52 win in Philadelphia in 2009. Two of Auburn's wins came in the early 80's, and the other was in 2008.

OWLS STEP UP IN THE COMMUNITY
The team is stepping up in the community of Philadelphia, literally, when the Owls take part in the Philly Stair Climb on Sunday, Dec. 4, to benefit the athletes of Special Olympics Pennsylvania's (SOPA's) Philadelphia program also known as T.E.A.M. Philly. The Philly Stair Climb is 53-floor vertical challenge that will take place at the BNY Mellon Center downtown. SUPPORTING OKLAHOMA STATE
All players on the team are wearing an orange lace on one shoe in memory of the two Oklahoma State women's basketball coaches recently killed in a plane crash.

McCARTHY MOVES INTO SEVENTH ALL-TIME
With 16 points against #5/4 Texas A&M on Nov. 25, Kristen McCarthy moved into seventh place all-time at Temple in career scoring, now with 1,289 points. She needs just two more to stand alone in sixth place.
