Owls grab five first place finishes

LONG BRANCH, N.J.
- The Temple women's track & field team posted five first place finishes as the Owls competed at the Monmouth Invitational on Saturday.  Freshman Ambrosia Iwugo was the only Owl to meet ECAC qualifying marks on the day, taking first place in the 200m dash.  

Iwugo ran the 200m in a time of 25.36, just off her season-best time of 25.31.  Also on the track, sophomore Sheina Roberts took top honors in the 500m dash, posting a personal-best time of 1:17.03.  Classmate Tonney Smith had a like finish in the 800m run, taking the title with a time of 2:16.54.

Sophomore Jade Wilson blazed through the 60m hurdles.  Wilson took gold with a time of 9.07 in the event.  She then teamed with Roberts, freshman Brianna Alvarez and sophomore Elizabeth-Paige White to lead the 4x400m relay team to victory in a time of 4:01.73.  The Owls' 4x400m B squad - Andrea Butler, Crystal Hercules, Gennie Depass and Isatta Kenneh - placed second in the event with a time of 4:09.65.

Temple now has a weekend off to prepare for the 2011 Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships, held February 18-19 at the University of Rhode Island.
