CINCINNATI, Ohio – Temple's men's tennis squad came up against a tough Xavier team today, falling 5-2 to the Atlantic 10 favorite on Sunday, March 20. The Owls are now 10-5 overall, 2-2 against conference foes.
The Musketeers quickly jumped out to a 1-0 lead with wins at the first two doubles bouts. The host team carried the momentum into the singles rounds, earning wins at numbers one, three, four and six to claim the match.
Temple's winners were Stanislav Stekolshikov and Mansur Gishkaev. Stekolshikov, playing at number two for just the second time this season, defeated Jimmy Roebker 7-6 (8-6), 6-3. Gishkaev handily defeated Patrick Bandy in straight-sets at number five, 6-2, 6-3.
TU is back in action on Sunday, March 27, at home against St. Francis (N.Y.).
