TOWSON, Md. - After a promising first half for Temple lacrosse, the Owls were ultimately undone by Towson's second-half run that saw the Tigers score six goals to Temple's three and win by a score of 13-10. Karly Cohen led Temple (1-6) with four goals, while Kelly Custer led Towson (3-4) with three goals.
Temple was down 3-2 in the first half before Charlotte Swavola scored her second and third goals of the game to start a 4-0 run that gave the Owls a 6-3 lead with 11 minutes remaining in the half.
From there the Tigers began to gain momentum that would last them through the game, as Towson mounted a comeback and tied the score at 7-7 by halftime.
Towson's Jess Dunn scored the first two goals of a 5-0 run for her team to start the second half, and Temple was never able to recover. Allison McWilliams and Stephanie Markunas stopped the run with back-to-back goals for Temple, pulling the Owls to within three at the five-minute mark.
Cohen put the Owls within two, 12-10 with a free position goal under the two-minute mark, but Towson's Ali Lathroum answered with a free position goal for the final tally of the game.
Both teams recorded 27 shots and 17 turnovers in the game. Towson's Mary Teeters was impressive in goal with 10 saves for the Tigers, while Temple's Tess Bishop notched four saves in the game.
