PHILADELPHIA - Junior Missy Schweitzer scored with 1:05 remaining to lift the Temple lacrosse team to a 12-11 win against visiting Lafayette (1-9) on Tuesday afternoon. The Owls (2-7) have now completed the non-conference portion of their schedule, and will start A-10 play on the road this weekend at Massachusetts.

Temple withstood an impressive second-half comeback from Lafayette as the Leopards scored six straight in a second-half run.

Sophomore Charlotte Swavola and junior Kelsey Zenuk started off the contest strong, helping Temple control the first half with a comfortable 8-4 lead. Swavola tallied two assists and one goal to help give the Owls a 4-0 advantage with 17:59 reaming in the initial stanza. Zenuk recorded two of her three goals in the first half as well.

Swavola and Zenuk continued to deliver after intermission, each recording a pair of unassisted goals to extend the Owls' lead to 10-4.

Despite being down 10-4 with 21:48 remaining in regulation, Lafayette rallied to go on a 6-0 run, knotting it up at 10 apiece with just over 10 minutes left to play. Lafayette freshman Ana White, who finished the contest with six points (2 goals, 4 assists), and sophomore Jessica Rothstein (4 goals) helped propel the Leopards six-goal comeback.

Temple ended the Leopards' run with 10:12 remaining, as Schweitzer converted on a free position shot that put Owls up by one. Rothstein, a midfielder for Lafayette, responded quickly, tying the game back up at 11 apiece with just eight minutes remaining.

With 1:05 left on the clock, Schweitzer came through once again for Temple, sinking an unassisted goal to seal the game up for the Owls at 12-11. Schweitzer would go onto finish the game with three goals and one assist.

Temple will begin Atlantic 10 Conference play this Friday, traveling to Amherst to take on the University of Massachusetts (7-2).
