Owls look to better 18th place finish from a year ago

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple women's track & field team had a total of 10 athletes qualify for the ECAC Championships, being held this weekend in Boston Mass.  The Owls finished 18th out of 51 teams at the 2010 ECAC Indoor Championships, and look to improve their individual finishes as well.

Seniors Shadaya Bennett, Tashima Stephens, Paris Williams and Assata Cowart will be making their final appearances at the ECAC Indoor Championships.  Williams will represent the Owls in the 400m posting a season best time of 56.54 at the NYRR Saturday Night at the Armory.  Cowart snapped the school record in the 1000m, running a qualifying time of 2:55.78 in the same meet.  She, along with Bennett and Stephens, will try to guide the 4x800m squad to gold along with the help of sophomore Tonney Smith.

Freshman Ambrosia Iwugo takes to the track in the 200m dash, an event she placed fourth in at the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships.  She, along with Williams, and sophomores Jade Wilson and Tessa West, will compete in the 4x800m relay.

Junior Alanna Owens is the lone field competitor for the Owls.  Owens threw a season best at the Penn State National Open with a toss of 54-04.75.
