COLLINGSWOOD, NJ - The Temple women's Varsity 8 concluded a solid weekend of competition Sunday with a second place finish in the 3rd Final at the 2011 Knecht Cup held on the Cooper River.
"The Varsity 8 put their 2 best races together of the season on Saturday and continued that today," Temple head coach Tim Hagan. "We picked up some good boat speed this weekend which we hope to build upon while preparing for the A-10s next week."
The Varsity 8, comprised of sophomore Paige O' Sullivan (stroke), sophomore Megan Welsh (7-seat), junior Allison Boc (6-seat), junior Taylor Wasserleben (5-seat), sophomore Joanna Sutor (4-seat), freshman Jackie Lees (3-seat), graduate student Brynn Moore (2-seat), sophomore Claudia Loeber (bow) and senior Erin Buchanan (cox), rowed the course in 7:02.41, narrowly losing to Fordham (7:01.17). The Owls did defeat A-10 power UMass (7:06.15), who finished fourth.
Temple is back again on the Cooper River when they compete in the Atlantic 10 Conference Championships this Saturday.
