PHILADELPHIA – Sophomore Stephany Parcell scored five goals to lead the Temple lacrosse team to a 14-10 win against visiting St. Bonaventure (5-7, 2-4) on Sunday afternoon at Geasey Field. With a 4-2 record in the Atlantic 10 and only one game remaining, the Owls (6-9) have now assured themselves a berth in the A-10 Tournament which Temple will host on April 29 and May 1.

Temple will play at La Salle on Thursday, April 21, but the Owls can finish no worse than 4-3. Temple has defeated the other two teams that could still finish with that same record- Duquesne and George Washington.

Charlotte Swavola scored three goals and recorded an assist for Temple, while Jaymie Tabor and Kelsey Zenuk notched two goals apiece. Tess Bishop made eight saves in goal for the Owls, who out-shot the Bonnies, 27-19.

Parcell scored two of Temple's first four goals as the Owls jumped out to a 4-2 lead, but three straight goals from the Bonnies put them ahead, 5-4 with seven minutes remaining in the first half.

Temple freshman Jaymie Tabor then scored two unassisted goals in the final two minutes of the first half to give the Owls a 6-5 lead at the break.

After the teams traded goals early in the second half, Temple exploded on a 5-0 run that included two goals each by Parcell and Swavola. Missy Schweitzer also scored and tallied an assist in the run, which put Temple on top by six, 12-6 with 12:48 remaining.

St. Bonaventure out-scored Temple 4-2 the rest of the way, but Temple's lead stayed safe, largely in part to 22 second-half fouls for the Bonnies compared to just nine for the Owls.

Danielle Drabin led St. Bonaventure with four goals, while goalkeeper Karly Kocis made 10 saves.
