Duo of Softball Players Garner Atlantic 10 Weekly Awards

Marris tabbed pitcher of the week, Pasquale earns rookie of the week honor
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Temple's Kristen Marris and Stephanie Pasquale earned the Atlantic 10 Conference Softball Pitcher and Rookie of the Week honors, respectively. It is the first career award for Marris, and second of the season for Pasquale.
Marris went 2-0 on the week, shutting out La Salle, 7-0, and 5-0. She allowed just three hits in 14 innings of work, while recording her third and fourth shutouts of the year. The senior from The Colony, Texas, fanned 13 batters and gave up just two walks.
Pasquale batted .571 (4-for-7) in two games against La Salle, hitting two homeruns and one double and registering six RBI, bringing her season total to a team-leading 27. Her homer in game one was a grand slam that broke the game open for the Owls. The freshman from Pompton Lakes, N.J., has struck out just five times this season, making her the 49th toughest to strikeout in the nation.
Temple is 18-18 overall and 9-3 in conference play. The Owls travel to Villanova for a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday, April 19, beginning at 2:15 p.m.
