Men's Golf Places Third at Yale Spring Opener

NEW HAVEN, CT - The Temple men's golf team turned in its best performance of the spring, placing third at the Yale Spring Opener Saturday. The Owls carded a 607 in the two-round one day tournament held at the Yale University Gold Club. Fellow Atlantic 10 Conference member Rhode Island won the event with a 597 while Sacred Heart was six shots better than Temple with a 601.
Senior Andrew Mason and freshman Connor McNicholas led the way for the Owls, tying for fifth overall with a four-over par 148. Freshman Russell Hartung tied for 30th overall with a 156 while freshman Steve Burak was tied for 35th with a 158. Senior Mark Edmonson rounded out the Owls' five, tying for 47th with a 161.
Rhode Island's Andrew Fiorenzano was the overall medalist, carding a two-over par 146 to lead the 65-player field.
The Owls hit the greens again tomorrow when they open play in the two-day Wildcat Invitational held at the White Manor Country Club in Malvern, Pa.
