Five Men's Tennis Players Garner All-Conference Honors

Filip Rams, Stekolshikov and Vizhunov make all-conference Teams; Kacper Rams and Gishkaev named to academic squad
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Temple's Filip Rams (Katowice, Poland) has been named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team, in voting conducted among the conference head coaches. In the same vote, juniors Stanislav Stekolshikov (Tallinn, Estonia) and Dmitry Vizhunov (Sochi, Russia) were named members of the A-10 All-Conference Second Team. This is the third-straight year Rams has been named to the conference first team. Vizhunov is making his second all-conference appearance after making the first team in 2009. Stekolshikov is a first-time honorees on an all-conference squad.
Rams posted an 23-9 overall singles mark during the 2010-11 season, including a 17-6 record in dual matches and a 6-1 record against A-10 foes, all at number one singles. The junior team captain led Temple to the semifinals of the 2011 Atlantic 10 Championship for the second-straight year. Paired with freshman Taylor Hairston for most of the season, Rams registered a 24-10 doubles record throughout the year, including a 17-7 mark in dual meet action. He ended the season winning seven of his final eight doubles matches with Hairston.
Stekolshikov played at least one match at every flight except number one for the Owls. He went 11-9, all in duals, and was 4-2 against conference opponents. His primary play time came at number two, where he was 7-5.
Vizhunov was second on the team in singles wins, going 21-9 with a 17-6 mark in dual action and 5-2 record in A-10 play. Playing mostly at number three, Vizhunov was 12-4 and won his final five matches, including three in the conference championship. In doubles play, he teamed up with Kacper Rams for most of the year to post an impressive 18-2 mark that included an 11-1 record at number three. The duo went 6-0 against conference opponents and ended the year with three-straight wins.
Earning individual honors were Aram Abgaryan of Duquesne, named the Most Outstanding Performer, Jimmy Roebker of Xavier as the Most Outstanding Rookie Performer and George Washington head coach Greg Munoz as the Coach of the Year. Senior Steve Herchko of Duquesne was selected as the Student-Athlete of the Year in a separate vote of the conference's sports information directors.
Joining Rams, Abgaryan and Roebker on the All-Conference first-team are Charlotte's Charles Martin-Lecamp; Duquesne's Peter Carpenter; George Washington's Ugur Atalay, Erik Hannah and Chris Kushma and Yan Levinski; Sebastien Fauchet of Richmond; Chris Post of St. Bonaventure; and Xavier's Bobby Deye.
In addition to Stekolshikov and Vizhunov, the All-Conference second-team consists of Charlotte's Mike Anders and Moritz Bernhoerster; George Washington's Alex van Gils and Viktor Svensson; Richmond's Jesse Feder; St. Bonaventure's Enric Larregola and Mikhail Sudakov; Alex Veronis of Saint Joseph's; and Xavier's Mesa Mei and Brandon MacDonald.
Joining Herchko on the Academic All-Conference team is teammate Abgaryan; George Washington's Yan Levinski; James McArthur of St. Bonaventure; and Temple's Mansur Gishkaev (Moscow, Russia) and Kacper Rams (Katowice, Poland).
Gishkaev is a 3.81 Economics student at Temple. He put together a solid season, going 18-8 in singles action, while teaming up with Andrey Morozov for an 11-8 doubles record. Last season, he was tabbed the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Men's Tennis Performer of the Year.
A sophomore, Kacper Rams has earned a 3.92 GPA in Finance. He was recently named to Temple's Trustee Ten, an honor given to the top-ten student-athletes in terms of GPA at TU. In addition to his academic achievements, Rams also went 16-12 in singles play this season, as well as 25-7 in doubles action, including the 18-2 mark with Vizhunov.
