Owls experience an up-and-down day in their second off-season tournament

VILLANOVA, Pa. - In the second tournament of the spring season, the Temple volleyball team went 3-3 overall in a day of matches hosted by Villanova. The Owls split with VCU and St. Peter's, defeated Eastern University and lost to Albany.

"The split with VCU was a good result for us," said head coach Bakeer Ganes. "They're a good team. We weren't as aggressive in our matches with St. Peter's and probably should have won those."

Ganes said the team was out-blocked by Albany in a 2-0 loss, but noted the Great Danes are a very strong team.

"Overall, it was a good day," said Ganes. "We just have to keep working hard. After the morning session the felt really good- maybe almost too good. The afternoon session kind of brought us back to reality. We still have a long way to go and need to work hard in the gym. I've reminded the team we're not running a sprint. We're right on track training-wise and our goal is to be ready for the fall. We just want to make sure we keep working towards that goal."
