Hartung Leads Golf to Fourth Place at Wildcat Invitational

Freshman shoots even par to pace Owls

MALVERN, PA - Freshman Russell Hartung had his best collegiate round, carding an even-par 71 to lead the Temple men's golf team to a fourth-place showing at the Wildcat Invitational Monday. Hartung, who shot a 77 in the opening round Sunday, led the Owls and tied for 11th in the field of 105 golfers at the Invitational, hosted by Villanova at the White Manor Country Club.

Delaware led the field of 20 teams with an 11-over par 579. Towson was two strokes back with host Villanova carding +28 for a total of 581 to finish third. Temple was eight strokes behind with a 604, which was six strokes better than fifth place Long Island.

Senior Andrew Mason (73-77, 150) and freshman Connor McNicholas (74-76, 150) were two srokes behind Hartung to tie for 22nd overall. Sophomore Devin Bibeau (79-77, 156) tied for 41st while freshman Steve Burak (79-79, 158) rounded out the Cherry and White squad by tying for 49th.

Delaware's Kevin McLister, who set a course record with a 66 on Sunday, led the field with a three-under par 139.

The Owls next compete at the two-day Princeton Invitational this Saturday and Sunday.
