AUSTIN, Texas - Running in one of the most competitive meets in the country, the Temple women's 4x800m cruised to a sixth place finish and ECAC qualifying marks as the Owls competed in day two of the Texas Relays. The squad, comprised of seniors Shadaya Bennett and Tashima Stephens, along with sophomores Victoria Gocht and Tonney Smith, crossed the finish line in a time of 8:57.97.
The Owls were racing against some of the top schools in the country, outplaced by national powerhouses Louisiana State, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Baylor and Kansas. Temple topped schools such as UT-Arlington, Houston, Rice and Grambling en route to their sixth place finish.
The Temple women's 4x400m is scheduled to compete in day three on Friday, along with the 1600m sprint relay.
