Women's Gymnastics Places Third In Session One Of USAG Championships

Owls post team score of 190.750

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Led by a second place finish all-around from junior Corrine Williams, the Temple women's gymnastics team turned in a team score of 190.750 to place third in session one of the 2011 USAG Championships, hosted by Air Force on Friday evening.  Williams put up a second place score of 38.425 all-around.

Defending champion Bridgeport came in first in session one, putting up a team score of 192.775.  Seattle-Pacific placed second with a score of 191.050, followed by the Owls score of 190.750 and Centenary with 190.450.

Despite not advancing as a team, the Owls will still have individuals moving on to the event finals.  Williams placed second on uneven bars with a score of 9.650 and will advance.  On vault, junior Alexandra Uscatu placed tied for second with a score of 9.750 and classmate Kaity Watson tied for fifth with a score of 9.675 - both good enough to move on to the event finals.

The finals competitions will be held at Air Force on Saturday, April 9.
