PHILADELPHIA - The Temple Women's Crew ended its season at the 2011 Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta Saturday. The Owls' Varsity 4 had a solid race, but its third place semifinal finish was not enough to qualify for the final. TU's Varsity 8 placed sixth in its semifinal race.
"Both of our crews rowed well today, but unfortunately it was not enough to make the finals," said Temple women's coach Tim Hagan.
The Varsity 4, comprised of freshman Kara Carson (stroke), junior Kara Jackson (3-seat), sophomore Angela Flinn (2-seat), sophomore Brittany Adell (bow) and sophomore Jillian Malkowski (cox), were 12 seconds ahead of fourth-place Army but their time of 7:58.56 was equally distant from Old Dominion (7:45.80) which won the race. A-10 rival Duquesne (7:49.85) placed second to advance to the finals.
The Heavyweight Varsity 8, comprised of sophomore Paige O' Sullivan (stroke), sophomore Megan Welsh (7-seat), junior Allison Boc (6-seat), junior Taylor Wasserleben (5-seat), sophomore Joanna Sutor (4-seat), freshman Jackie Lees (3-seat), Brynn Moore (2-seat), sophomore Claudia Loeber (bow) and senior Erin Buchanan (cox), never threatened in its race.
