PHILADELPHIA - Senior Assata Cowart ran the 15th-fastest 400m hurdles qualifying time to advance to the semifinals in the event at the NCAA East Regionals on Thursday afternoon at Indiana University. Cowart was one of two Temple women's track & field standouts representing the Owls at the East Regionals, with sophomore Victoria Gocht also running in the 800m on today.
Cowart clocked in at 59.52 to earn a spot in the semifinals, being held on Friday afternoon. She will be running in the second heat on Friday, earning the third slot in that heat. In the semifinals, Cowart ran a time of 58.78 to place 14th.
For Gocht, a ticket to the next round was not meant to be, as the sophomore ran 2:15.86 to place 46th.
