Mason, McNicholas To Compete at 107th Open Championship Wednesday

HUNTINGDON VALLEY, PA - Two members of Temple's 2010-11 golf team, senior Andrew Mason and freshman Connor McNicholas, will compete in the prestigious 107th Open Championship held at Huntingdon Valley Country Club on Wednesday July 20th. The 107th Open Championship is the third major of the season for the Golf Association of Philadelphia, and will have a field of 72 golfers, 41 amateurs and 31 professionals. Both Mason and McNicholas are competing as amateurs in the 36-hole, one-day event.
Mason, a three-time all-conference honoree, is a Huntingdon Valley native and will be competing on his own course. He was the Owls' top golfer in this past season, his final one of his collegiate career.
McNicholas, an Ambler, Pa, native, capped a fine rookie season with a seventh place showing at the Atlantic 10 Championships, placing second to Mason (5th overall) to earn all-conference honors.
Mason tees off in the first grouping at 7:30 am. with his second round scheduled to start at 12:45 p.m. McNicholas is set for a 7:50 a.m. start to be followed at 1:05 p.m. with round two.
