Golf Opens Season at The McLaughlin Friday

Steve Burak leads young Owl squad into action
BETHPAGE, NY - The Temple men's golf team, under the direction of fifth-year head coach Brian Quinn, opens its 2011-12 season this Friday and Saturday at The McLaughlin in Bethpage, N.Y. It is the first of five fall events the Owls will compete in with the highlight being the Big 5 Invitational, hosted by Temple, at Plymouth Country Club October 8-9.
Temple returns three of its top five golfers from last year's team that placed fourth at the Atlantic 10 Championship. Sophomore Steve Burak has the lowest returning stroke average at 76.7 per round. Fellow sophomore Russel Hartung (77.7 spr.) and junior Devin Bibeau (77.9 spr.) also return.
Sophomore Matthew Crezcenzo and freshmen Paul carbone and Connor Dunne will be competing for the Cherry and White for the first time this weekend.
