Golf Tied for 14th at The McLaughlin After First Day

Steve Burak tied for 8th with two-under 138
BETHPAGE, NY - Sophomore Steve Burak shot a two under-par 138 in the first day of competition at The McLaughlin to lead the Temple University men's golf team to a 14th-place tie in the 18-team field in the Owls' season-opening event.
Burak, who carded a 70 in the first round and followed with a 68, is tied for eighth place among the 92 golfers in the prestigious field. Playing in his first collegiate tournament, freshman Paul carbone was five shots behind Burak and tied for 39th overall with a 145 (75-70). Junior Devin Bibeau was eight strokes over-par and tied for 63rd with a 148 (74-74). Sophomores Matthew Crescanzo (77-74, 151) and Russell Hartung (77-75, 152) rounded out the Owl golfers in 79th and 82nd place.
West Florida led the field with a 12-under 548. The owls tied with Johnson and Wales with a score of 582, 34 shots off the pace. Play resumes Saturday morning.
