Golf Places 15th at The McLaughlin

FARMINGDALE, NY - Sophomore Steve Burak shot a four over-par 214 for the three rounds at The McLaughlin to lead the Temple University men's golf team to a 15th-place finish in the 18-team field in the Owls' season-opening event that ended Saturday.
Burak carded a six-over 76 on the final day to finish tied for 22nd place among the 92 golfers in the prestigious field. Playing in his first collegiate tournament, freshman Paul carbone was five shots behind Burak and tied for 46th overall with a 219 (75-70-74). Junior Devin Bibeau was 15 strokes over-par and tied for 69th with a 225 (74-74-77). Sophomores Russell Hartung (77-75-75, 227) and Matthew Crescanzo (77-74-81, 232) rounded out the Owl golfers in 73rd and 85th place.
West Florida won the two-day event with a 12-under 828, one shot ahead of TCU (829). The owls next take to the lincs at the Adams Cup in Newport, R.I. Sept.19-20.
