Women's Soccer Hosts Francis Marion Friday
9.22.11 | Women's Soccer
PHILADELPHIA –Temple women's soccer has at long last completed a stretch of five consecutive road matches and will host its first match in nearly month when it takes on the Francis Marion Patriots Friday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. at YSC Sports in Wayne, Pa. Live Stats will be provided here, pending on game time weather conditions.
When the Owls take the field, they'll be looking to get back in the win column after coming up winless in its recent road swing. The last time Temple hosted a match was back on Aug. 26 when it defeated UMBC on junior Casey Greco's double-overtime game-winning goal to get the Owls off to their best start (2-0-0) since 1992.
Leading scorer, senior Niki Conn will likely miss her third straight match since sustaining an injury at Buffalo (Sept. 9). Her status for returning to action this season has been labeled as day-to-day.
Francis Marion (3-6-1) is in its fourth season as a full-fledged independent Division-I member after switching from Division-II.
The Patriots comes into today's match looking to snap a three-game losing streak. Already this year, the Patriots defeated High Point, Winthrop and Presbyterian. Sophomore Yasmin Bunter is the team's leading scorer, having eight points in 10 games (three goals and two assists).
In goal, senior Lauren Vetock has started all 10 games and is posting a 1.57 goals against average, along with a .778 save percentage and 54 saves.
