Women's T&F Brings Home Solid 5th Place Finish at Terrapin Invite

LANDOVER, Md. -
At Saturday's Terrapin Invitational, the Temple women's track and field team landed a fifth place finish in a 19-team field, courtesy of several strong finishes by the Owl competitors.

Juniors Crystal Hercules and Isatta Kenneh placed within a second of each other to nab second and third place, respectively, in the 60 meter dash to fall only behind Hampton's Breana Norman.

Jade Wilson put forth a solid run in the 400 meter dash with a time 59.12, setting her in fifth place overall in the event, while sophomore Victoria Gocht placed first in her heat of the 600 meter run to earn sixth place with her elapsed time of 1:39.11.

In the same event as Gocht, junior Elizabeth-Paige White had a strong top 10 finish, placing ninth iverall with a quickness of 1:40.40.

Junior Tonney Smith continued to have success in her competitions, as she earned the runner-up spot in the 800 meter run, placing behind Maryland's Myrah Hicks.

When it came time for the one-mile run, freshman Jenna Dubrow had a strong finish time of 5:13.95 for third place overall.

The Owls continued to have Top 10 finishes all throughout the day, as sophomore Sarah Rutter finished the 5000 meter run in a time of 19:27.42 for fifth place overall.

Third-year competitor Jade Wilson hurdled 60 meters in 9.18 for ninth place overall after taking 10th place in the preliminary with a time of 9.19.

As the competition shifted to field events, Frances Norton land 5.24 meters in the long jump, to take second place in her heat and 12 overall in the event.

Fourth-year competitor Alana Owens threw 13.01 meters in the shot put to earn seventh place in the event before reaching a sixth place distance of 15.26 meters in the weight throw event, which was ahead of freshman Margo Britton in seventh place (14.22 meters).

The Owls move on to prepare for the Penn State National Open next Friday and Saturday at State College, Pa.
