Owls Show Solid Team Effort at PSU National Open Finale

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - After making history on Friday night in the distance medley relay, the Temple women's track and field team returned to Saturday's portion of the Penn State National Open with a lot of momentum left over.

In two collective events, the Owls reached ECAC qualifying marks, as they placed fourth in the 4x800 meter relay before finishing the 4x400 meter relay in the ninth quickest time.

Elizabeth-Paige White, Victoria Gocht, Shanel Golding and Sheina Roberts made up the 4x800 meter relay squad for the Owls, as they took a fourth place finish in a time of 9:15.97. 

Following that, Temple continued to show how solid its performances as a unit can be as the 4x400 meter relay squad, whcih was comprised of Ambrosia Iwugo, Michelle Timothy-Davis, Tessa West and Jade Wilson- all who worked to nab the Owls a ninth place time of 3:47.75 to help meet ECAC qualifying marks.

Sophomore Alanna Owens once again showed her strength in the shot put, as she earned seventh place with her throw distance of 13.88 meters, yielding her to ECAC qualifying distance.

Before the day came to a close, freshman Jenna Dubrow just missed reaching an ECAC qualifying time, as she finished the one-mile run in a quick 5:03.34 to take 20th place in the event.

The Owls will move on from the weekend's events and will now look forward to next Saturday's meet in Kingston, R.I. where they will take part in the Rhode Island Invitational.
