Shey Peddy Named A-10 and Big 5 Women's Basketball Player of the Week

Peddy helps lead Owls to their fourth and fifth consecutive victories
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Temple's Shey Peddy and Dayton's Andrea Hoover were named the Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Basketball Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, the league office announced on Monday. The duo was honored for games played during the week of Jan. 23-29. Peddy earns the honor for a second time this season after also being named Player of the Week on Dec. 5.
Peddy averaged 20.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists in a pair of Atlantic 10 wins last week for Temple. The senior guard shot an impressive 58 percent from the field (15-for-26) including 8-of-15 from 3-point range (53 percent) and was a perfect 3-for-3 at the line. She opened the week with a game-high 19 points in the Owls' 64-38 win at Xavier on 7-of-9 shooting from the field and 4-of-5 behind the arc, before scoring 22 points in a 65-55 win against Charlotte in Philadelphia. Peddy also pulled down seven rebounds and tied for game-high honors with six assists versus the 49ers.
Peddy was also named Big 5 Women's Basketball Player of the Week and OwlSports.com Athlete of the Week for her efforts.
Hoover scored a career-high 22 points, equaled her career high with eight rebounds and sank a career-high eight (8-of-8) free throws in Dayton's 74-56 road win over George Washington. It's the third time she has led the Flyers in scoring this season. She also had six rebounds and five points, including UD's final free throw of the game to make it a three-point difference, in Dayton's 81-78 overtime win over Richmond. The award marks Hoover's third citation of the season, as she was previously named Rookie of the Week on Jan. 2 and Jan. 16.
