PHILADELPHIA -
On Tuesday evening, the Philadelphia Soccer Six held its annual end of the season banquet at the Sheraton Hotel in Center City. The organization honored members of the six Philadelphia-based Division I soccer schools (Drexel, La Salle, Saint Joseph's, Temple, Penn and Villanova) for their accomplishments during the 2011 season.

Among those recognized, Temple senior Tyler Witmer and junior Cody Calafiore were tabbed members to the Philadelphia Soccer Six All-Star team as midfielders [Complete team listed below]. Sophomore midfielder Vaughn Spurrier and rookie goalkeeper Bobby Rosato were also honored for their Player of the Week earnings over the course of the season.

In his final year as an Owl, Witmer finished second on the team in scoring; having four goals and a team-high three assists to finish with 11 points. Back on Oct. 1, the Wernersville, Pa. native led the Owls to victory over Howard in the team's final non-conference match of the season.

The senior forward, who ranks ninth all-time in goals scored at Temple with 23 career tallies, did not miss a game in his four-year career until this season. In the four games Witmer scored a goal this season, the Owls were 4-0-0, extending Temple's undefeated streak when he tallied a score to eight straight, dating back to 2010.

Calafiore entered this season as one of 42 players in the nation to be selected to the Herman Trophy Watch List. Despite suffering an injury in the early portion of the season, the native of Howell, N.J. was still able to lead the Owls in scoring, having a career-high six goals and two assists on the year.

The junior midfielder was instrumental in Temple's run to a second straight Atlantic 10 Tournament, as he scored four game-winning goals for the Owls over the course of the season, including the penalty kick tally against La Salle on Nov. 4, which clinched the Owls' spot in postseason. Since transferring from Monmouth (N.J.), Calafiore has a total of 11 goals and 6 assists since arriving at Temple.

Spurrier was named the organization's Player of the Week back on Oct. 18. In a game on Oct. 15
against Saint Joseph's at Finnesy Field, Spurrier claimed a three-point game, having the game-winning goal and an assist on a late insurance goal by Witmer.

Rosato earned recognition from the Philly Soccer Six after he pitched his fifth shutout during the final weekend of the season, which helped the Owls clinch their second straight A-10 Tournament berth and held the La Salle Explorers scoreless in Temple's hard-fought 1-0 win. In that city-rival match, Rosato turned away all six La Salle scoring chances.
